Iceland is crazy sometimes – I’m pretty sure I just saw a construction worker wearing a Jonas brothers sweatshirt? Idk what’s going on.

Back at the immigration office again today.
Hopefully they’ll hear my plea to expedite the permits for my wife and daughter after the misplacing our applications from last July 🙏Nice.

It was today that I found out that UTL (Icelandic immigration office) has no record for my wife or daughter’s immigration paperwork even though that was 50% of the reason for my trip back in July of 2022. Fantastic.

Winter nights in Reykjavík hit different than Michigan.
Every window in our house is open some amount. Not a lot, but enough to have a rogue wind carrying fresh air surprise you now and again. Enough to remember the outside.

Update on the doctor visit: they ran a blood test to ensure I actually had an infection before prescribing antibiotics which cost 1050kr or approximately $7.37. I’m out of a doctor’s visit for around $11 total.

Today is my first trip to the doctors office in Iceland. I’ve never been to a doctor anywhere other than Michigan for my entire adult life. and so far it has cost me the equivalent of $3.52 to see a nurse and an actual doctor as a walk-in.

Iceland Week 1 ✅
Our first full week living in Iceland has passed. My permits have been extended for another two years and we might finally get a new car in the next month or two…
We finally found some cool things to take our daughter to while we wait for her to be properly registered as a resident here which has provided some stress relief. Some things are still weird but I’m not sure randomly seeing beautiful scenery from my office or from trips to the hardware store will ever get old.
